The rivers Crouch and Roach make up a favorite area for thousands of sailors and motorboat users.

As well as being a commercial port, the rivers have miles of navigable water and many safe overnight mooring places for leisure boats. This has made both the Crouch and the Roach among the top cruising areas for weekend sailors.

Unfortunately our two rivers have recently become popular with some unwelcome visitors: thieves who break into boats and steal away anything that can be converted into cash.

Many items appear later at car boot sales and boat jumbles or are sold online. Others are simply fenced by the same criminals who receive goods from burglaries on land. www.crimeonthecrouch.co.uk exists to help stop these crimes.

A few of the things we do;

Collect, record and make public
, information about marine related crimes on the Rivers Crouch and Roach.
These are shown on a crime map

Verify and substantiate
information we receive for accuracy and to avoid rumor or scaremongering

Identify areas where incidents are currently most common and inform people about the items at highest risk.

Crime prevention and reporting are important aspects of crimeonthecrouch

As incidents are reported or suspicions raised we spread the word to clubs and individuals all along the river. By increasing awareness we can encourage vigilance and help the police to catch these criminals and drive crime away from our rivers.
